Carol J. Matson was born to Arthur and Ethel Renschler on June 23, 1936. She married her high school sweetheart, John, on September 21, 1957. Together, they raised a loving and beautiful family. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Matson, in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Munafo, and two nephews, Carl and Dan Braeuer.

Carol is survived by her three children John (Mindy Julifs) Matson, Nancy (Cliff) Bernecker and Fred (Jill) Matson; grandchildren Amber (Brad) Owens, Scott Bernecker, Jacob Matson, AJ Matson, Jonathan Matson, Emily Matson and Joshua (Becca) Matson; great grandchildren Trent, Blake and Miranda Owens; and her loving cat Gracie. Carol is also survived by her dear companion of several years, Ed Schmalz, and his family, among several other special friends and family.

A visitation for Carol will be held at Paul R. Young Funeral Home in Mt. Healthy on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 11 am until time of funeral service at 12 pm.
