Voula Pappas was given back to our Lord on Monday Evening, January 14th of 2019. Surrounded by her loving family, she joins her beloved husband George and daughter Toni in our heavenly kingdom.
Voula was born on March 15, 1931 to loving parents Marina and Vasilios Zoes in Cincinnati, Ohio who immigrated from Argos, Greece. She met a dashing young Greek, George Pappas, at a church dance and was soon married and on her way to Alexandria, Egypt for her first brave adventure. Many adventures followed, however Voula and George eventually settled near Chicago living in Roselle, IL where they raised three beautiful daughters Toni, Betsy, and Sandra. In time, Voula and George decided on another adventure and became proud owners of the SunTan Terrace Motel located on the beach of Casey Key near Sarasota, FL. Voula and George then retired in Osprey, FL where Voula has lived since.
Voula leaves two loving daughters, Betsy Pappas-Fay and her husband William living in Washougal, WA and Sandra Pappas-Ward and her husband Gary living in Tampa, FL. Voula also leaves two loving sisters, Roselyn Hiller of Columbus, OH and Angie Parthenakis with her husband Nicholas of Cincinnati, OH. Along with two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews in the United States and Greece.
There will be a private funeral service at Holy Trinity St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church on Saturday, January 19th at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Memorial Chapel.
Voula was a valiant fighter against Waldenstrom's Cancer. She battled this rare disease for 10 years with a variety of treatments. She demonstrated to all, but especially to her family that strength and perseverance can be found in all situations. If you wish to make a donation in honor of Voula's valor, we recommend the Waldenstrom's Foundation IWMF.com.
