Vernon Cecil Herbert

Vernon Cecil Herbert, age 92, of Cincinnati passed away peacefully of natural causes in his home at Berekley Square surrounded by family on July 25, 2018.  Loving husband of 73 years to Nora, and devoted father to Martha (Herbert) Ruhl, Vernon Timothy Herbert, Nancy (Herbert) Costello, and Gary Herbert. Preceded in death by parents, Harry and Syrilda Herbert, his two brothers, Forrest Herbert and Melvin C. Herbert, and one sister, Mildred (Herbert) Rynn. He is survived by his wife, four children, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and younger sister, Helen (Herbert) Bradley.  Cecil served as a seaman in the Navy during WWII and retired from the CSX railroad following his military career.  He was a dedicated family man and community steward that never met a stranger.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children of Cincinnati in his name.  Services will be held at the Paul R. Young Funeral home in Mt. Healthy, 7345 Hamilton Avenue, Mt. Healthy Ohio, on Monday, July 30th; visitation at 9am until the time of services at 11am.
