Gerald H. Sanders of Oxford, Ohio passed away on February 6th. Jerry was a Marine Corps colonel who served in World War II and in the Korean War. Throughout his adult life, he was heavily involved in communications. He and his debate partner won the National Debate Tournament in 1947, and he and went on to earn his doctorate in Communications. He managed KDAV in Lubbock, Texas and then owned and operated KZZN in Littlefield, Texas. From there, he became Chair of the Speech Department and the debate coach at the College of Wooster in Ohio and then Chair of the Communications Department at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Mary Dean, his children, Michael, Rose Ann, and Susan, his granddaughter, Michelle Walker, and his great grandson, Colton Lee Walker. Jerry was a beloved member of the Oxford community where he had many friends, associates, and colleagues. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at Ogle & Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford, Ohio on Saturday, February 17th at 2:00 P.M. Military honors will be presented.
