Eileen M (Magie) Earhart

Earhart, Eileen Louise Magie, Age 89, died April 18, 2018 in Peachtree City, GA.  Eileen was born and raised in Liberty Township, Butler County, OH.  She was born on October 21 to Andrew Joseph and Martha Leah (Waldorf) Magie.  After graduating from Monroe High School, she attended and graduated from Miami University.  Later she also completed an MA and a PhD at Michigan State University.  She taught elementary school, and then later became a Professor and Department Chair in Family and Child Science at MSU and Florida State University until retirement.  She was a longtime member of Delta Kappa Gamma society. She loved to travel, sew and play card and board games, as well as Sudoku puzzles.  Eileen was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and an outstanding Christian role model. Those that knew her would say she was a remarkable, kind, generous and wonderful woman. Until moving to GA in 2014, she had been an active member in the Oxford United Methodist Church as well as the Knolls of Oxford. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 64 years, Paul Gordon in 2014, her son Daniel Thomas in 2013 and her brother John William Magie in 2017.  Eileen is survived by her son, Bruce Paul and his daughter Erin Nicole, her daughter in law, Marcia Earhart and her son Dale Thomas and her daughters Amanda Jones and Ali McCraw, sister in law, Carole Magie as well as several special nieces and nephews. There will be a Memorial Service on June 23, 2018 at 3:00pm at the Oxford United Methodist Church, 14 N. Poplar St Oxford, OH 45056.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church in her name.
