Carol Blake Obituary

Blake, Carol Donley, of Oxford, Ohio passed away surrounded by her family at Hospice of Hamilton on Saturday, January 13, 2018. Carol was born in Shadyside, Ohio on September 26, 1931 to Millard and Daisy (White) Donley. She is survived by her children, Lynette K. Blake, Mariann (Keith) Reinke, and Robert L. Blake (Lori Gummel). Carol’s grandchildren were the pride of Carol’s life: Benjamin, Brigitte, and Blake Reinke and Victoria and Elizabeth Blake. She is also survived by her sister, Glenna D. Fisher. Family was very important to Carol. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Blake Jr., her daughter, Cynthia Ruth Blake, and her brothers, Dale and Loren Donley. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Carol will be greatly missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A highlight of each year was attending the family reunion and singing with the Donley family choir. Music was Carol’s passion. She was an active vocalist performing as a featured soloist in the communities in which she and Bob resided. Carol graduated from West Liberty State College, Wheeling, West Virginia with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree. Carol taught music education in the Bridgeport, Mariemont, and Talawanda (1964-1988) School Districts as well as directing children and youth choirs at the Milford United Methodist Church and Oxford United Methodist Church. Carol sang in the Chancel Choir at Oxford United Methodist Church, from 1964-2017. She inspired her family and students in their love of singing and choral music. A visitation will be held at the Ogle & Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford, OH on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 5-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the Oxford United Methodist Church, 14 Poplar Street, Oxford, OH 45056 on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oxford United Methodist Church Chancel Choir, 14 Poplar Street, Oxford, Ohio 45056 or the Robert Blake Jr. Scholarship Fund, Miami University #3805-001.
