Betty Hawley Brookbank, age 94, died September 23, 2018 at the Knolls, Oxford, Ohio. Born in Union County, IN to Harry W and Bessie Goble Hawley she graduated from College Corner H.S. During W.W. II she worked in Richmond, IN while attending Earlam College and on June 19, 1943 she married Paul C. Brookbank. They lived north of Liberty, IN until they moved to Ohio in 1961 where she began her career working at Miami University in Oxford, OH. She contributed to the success of many students in her role in the Office of Student Education and retiring in 1986 as Assistant Director of Continuing Education. She was a long-time member of the First United Presbyterian Church in College Corner and more recently of the Salem Friends Church. She was a member of Modern Homemakers, Chattering Stitchers, Oxford Senior Citizens, Society of Miami Retirees, and a volunteer for McCullough Hyde Hospital. She loved her family and she and Paul celebrated over 60 years of marriage until Paul passed away in 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Paulette Novak (Tom) of Centerville, OH and son, Brian Brookbank (Linda) of Liberty, IN. also her grandchildren Christine Brookbank Leak, Karen Novak Moore, Duane Brookbank, Kenneth Novak, Tim Brookbank, Jonathan Brookbank and 15 great grandchildren. Visitation will be on October 1, at Ogle & Paul R. Young Funeral Home, Oxford from 12 pm until time of Celebration of Life at 2 pm.
