Benjamin Shoker Obituary

Gursaran Singh Benjamin Franklin Shoker, known to his friends & family as 'Gus' or 'Frank', of Oxford, Ohio passed away in Ft Lauderdale, Florida on January 24th, 2018 at the age of 82.  He came to the U.S. from India in 1957 to attend Bluffton College where he graduated with a bachelor of sciences followed by a master’s degree at Marshall University. He married his late wife, Emma Lee Hunt, in 1959 and the couple moved from Charleston, West Virginia to Darrtown, Ohio in 1962 when he accepted a biology teaching position at Talawanda High School.  Shortly after the couple made Oxford, Ohio their home.  From teaching he began to sell real estate in 1965, building homes in 1966 and leaving teaching to pursue real estate and construction full time in 1970. Frank Graduated from Ohio Northern Law School, passed the Indiana Bar and began his practice of law in 1985, that he remained active in until his death.
He was an avid entrepreneur and rental owner, always excited to talk business, make a deal and share his experience & wisdom with others.  He served within the bar association, church committees and other organizations through his career.  Gus loved gardening and flowers, saving seeds year to year from his favorite plants and always planning for next season.  He enjoyed traveling, sitting by the beach at sunset with his favorite drink and spending time with friends & family.  His passion for life was intense and contagious, leaving a great void behind to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife Emma Lee Shoker and survived by his sons Randall (Nancy), Christopher (Lara), Reid (Jennifer), his daughter Lee Ann, eight grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and his special friend Lori.
